First, as it would be (duh!), a preface.
For a long time I have had no interest in making any videos that had my goofy face or voice on them. In fact, I got sick of the idea of even having the old ones up on here. It wasn't out of any malice; I just totally got out of the idea of talking on Youtube about anything, and I didn't foresee any time when that might change. It could be more than coincidence that this summer has been pretty nice weather-wise and it might matter that I've spent a lot of time outside walking and climbing and looking at stuff and thinking. I've always had the camera with me when I did these things, but it hasn't been a priority to video or snap pics of every cool thing I saw, and it has been much, much less of a priority to get on camera and talk about anything.
And yet here I am, and talking about (sort of) 9/11.
You could have won a lot of money if you had bet me a day ago that I'd be on here with a video that had anything to do with 9/11 today. I did not see it coming, not in the least.
This thing was inspired (if you can call it that) by the headline article in City Newspaper (outta Rochester, NY, if you wonder). City leans politically the way that you'd expect it to, and I want to say that's fine with me but it really isn't. I guess the news "industry" (as if they produce anything!?!) was always thus, but for some reason it bugged me to open to page whatever and see that this article was written by our erstwhile local reporter, Tom Hayden.
If you don't know who Tom Hayden is, look him up or ask someone who was alive in the 1960s. Failing that, please know one thing about the man and (more so) the paper that printed the story: having Tom Hayden's 9/11 article speak as your cover story is quite a bit like having Evel Knievel write about jumping motorcycles over buses. It's going to involve opinion and the man is definitely going to be biased. Personally I have no problem with that; where my beef comes is when the "news media" put things like this out there as reporting. And I'm equal opportunity in the non-digging scene: Fox's "fair and balanced" is just a bullshit mantra meant to dull the senses to the fact that news ISN'T fair nor is it balanced. It's just news.
Anyway, it coaxed another kick-ass video outta me, so there ya go. :D
If anyone's bugged by what I say here, that's cool. I don't mean any offense but people seem to take it increasingly these days. Taking offense seems to be a growth industry in these parts. I don't understand the satisfaction of that; like everything else lately it seems pretty selective and watered down. I suggest that if these people are seriously feeling dishonored that they might adopt the Old West attitude and settle things by dueling on the ground of honor. Not that I'd accept the challenge myself; I'm in love with life (yeah, it's that "comfortable old wool sweater" kinda love right now, but it's there) and besides I am much too busy to die, what with my suddenly realized aspiration to become Eric Clapton's stunt double. I think the video explains that, which is good because the guitar sure doesn't. :)
That's all. Gotta love brevity in descriptions.
Thank you for watching!
I liked it better when you sat here regularly. but it is what it is.

@viddareff It just hasn't been anything I've felt like doing much of lately. At least with the camera rolling, or whatever the verb would be for digital video cameras. "Seemingly nothinging" might be close. :D
I'm a goofy bastard; no reason to bet I don't make a hundred more of these in a year. No reason to bet either way; just saying it could happen. The quiet times aren't out of spite, I promise you.
Thanks for watching this stuff for literally (in YT terms) ever, Vidd!

Oh, I loved that Donny Iris tune! 911 was horrific and my feeling of being "safe" that I had had all my life...is gone. Larry is my favourite of the 3 Stooges. hugs, Chris

@bugsinrug It's a great song, Chris...it took me literally ten years from the first time I heard it (stocking shelves in the wee hours in 1986) to find out who sang it. One more great testimonial for the availability of the internet.
Larry Fine rocks! You gotta love a classical violinist who makes a living by getting beat on the head. Plus, he's fun to imitate; I've been sitting here saying, "Oh boy!", for the last several minutes. There are better ways to waste time but who cares. :D

most people want to tell you the dramatic moments the experienced when they heard the news... interesting in some ways, terribly self-involved on others.
glad you felt like talking today, sir. you look good! like you had a good summer... yay.
scrambled eggs and home fries for breakfast. just thought i'd share :)

@snarkdetriomphe I had no drama; I just kept drilling holes and bending metal and listening to the radio and not really believing what I heard (not because of any conspiracy theorist makeup in me-though that's there-but because what I heard didn't make any sense.
Thanks for watching, Liz! It has been a good summer so far. And breakfast was great! :D
