Famous last words:
" I am haunted by the vivid memories of killings and corpses and anger and pain ... of starving or wounded children, of trigger-happy madmen, often police, of killer executioners."
Kevin Carter's last words on his suicide note in 94, a year after he took that famous vulture photo, and months after the death of Ken Oosterbroek (killed in a crossfire).

Our thoughts go out to Joao Silva, who lost both his legs after stepping on a landmine in Afghanistan last week ...

@dungrapid2 He could not touch the kid because the journalists in the Sudan (in which he was one) were told not to touch the famine victims, because of the risk of transmitting disease. The most Kevin Carter could do was shoo away the vulture after he took the picture, then cry in a nearby bush at what he had just witness and not being able to do anything about it.

I lived in Thokoza, Khumalo street was a no go area,we used back routes. My neighbour supplied guns to a side (I am not a liberty to say which). I lived with my dad's white colleagues for a while... I heard of stories of the killings...
NOW I CAN’T WAIT TO SEE WHICH STORIES I HEARD WERE CAPTURED IN THIS MOVIE...

i love how judgemental pple sitting comfortably in their homes can judge this man. first and foremost i come from one of the poorest countries in africa and in the world. kevin carter had the decency to feel, for me and most people you become desensitized, because you would end up killing yourself. what do you do? try to survive! it goes beyond helping one starving girl , its families, clans, communities, countries. its harder than it looks and takes great emotional and physical strength.

Funny, but that kid from Kevin Carter's photo doesn’t die it the moment, when photo was taken, but only some years later. Photographer has killed himself, and the local president, governmental body, folks from NGO’s not. Lets reflect about that…

Carter was preparing to photograph a starving toddler trying to reach a feeding center when a vulture landed nearby. Carter later said that he waited 20 minutes to see if the vulture would flare its wings. He finally took a picture and then chased off the vulture.....Hundreds of people contacted the newspaper to ask the fate of the girl. .....The paper reported that it was unknown whether she had managed to reach the feeding center. WTF.... THIS MAKES ME MAD REAL MAD.

Having stated that, I'm curious to know what you would have done in that situation...
