Davy returned to the Isle of Man in July 2011, to play one night only headlining The Garden Party Festival. He was joined onstage by many musical friends of Mann - Simon Campbell and the Very Bad Men were his backing band (Kev Whitehead on drums, Steve Rowe on bass); Christine Collister, Christy DeHaven and Anna Goldsmith were his backing singers and he was also joined by Katie Lawrence (fiddle), Mark Brabbs (percussion) and Matt Kelly (mandolin).
It was a spectacular gig, but the highlight of the night was when Davy was surprised onstage by Nicole & Chris Stott, and the rest of the Discovery Shuttle Crew, who are huge fans of Davy's music and played his CDs in space on their last mission! Following a special presentation, Davy sang 'Roll Away' - the song which NASA has adopted for the theme on Discovery's Last Mission Documentary. There wasn't a dry eye in the field :)
I was very privileged to be there for this unique event - on the front row, no less.
Will never forget that night and still get goosebumps and tearful when watching this video. Thanks for posting this so that others can share it.
