I'm doing a bit of research on the Merostomata, (Specifically Eurypterids (sea scorpions)), and was amazed, given the abundance of similar phenotypes, that they aren't as closely related to Arachnids as I would expect...

They're famous in our lectures for sheer weirdness!

Although when it comes down to super-weird phenology, I am a massive fan of early to mid Cambrian Arthropods, some of my favorites being Anomalocaris and certain spiny Trilobites (e.g. Ordovicans)
