Doesn't God want it to be EASY for us to understand the Bible?

Let's take look at a New Testament passage and an Old Testament passage which Jesus referenced:
Matthew 13 and Isaiah 28

  • Its not.

  • @3VOLution3NO It's not hard for an unsaved person to understand? REALLY? Think about that one. There is plenty of Scripture to point to that says yes it is hard for them to understand.

If you don't BELIEVE, it is designed to be a snare and a trap for the unbelieving spirit.

Jesus said so himself. You might disagree with that, but it's a fact jack.

  • I dont't understand, WHY does God want to make it difficult for us? Doen't he say: My joke is easy and my burden is light and also if you dont become like a CHILD you shall not enter the kingdom of heaven! i am confused....

  • @Gr4v3Digg3r God doesn't want to make it DIFFICULT but he also does not intend to make it EASY. He wants us to come to him in trusting FAITH, so he designed his word with a built in mechanism which gives MORE understanding to those who seek his word in truth out of trusting in him but as a SNARE to trap those who do not. When it is preached in churches that Jesus spoke in parables to make it easy for dumb people to understand, that is a direct contradiction of JESUS' own words

  • @Oweboy1960 JESUS IS GOD and this proves it once again.

Isaiah 28 is prophesying of Jesus/God speaking in parables, but it's manifold in that it is also speaking about the Bible itself, and Jesus is also the word of God become flesh.

Jesus/GOD said he would speak to this people in another tongue and stutter SO THAT EVERYONE WOULD NOT UNDERSTAND, deliberately. If you did not study then it's like showing up to his class without doing homework. You would not understand this teacher!

  • @calvinclemons030 Matthew 13 Fulfills Psalm 78 and Isaiah 28 because Jesus quoted BOTH in Matt 13. AMAZING!

God DOES give us more understanding BUT only if we have faith in his words, otherwise it is designed as a SNARE to trap those who do not.

So when it is said Jesus spoke in parables so the dumb people would easily understand, this is a false statement and contradicts God's word. It is not meant to be easy, it is meant for those with eyes to see and ears to hear.

  • A great site for easy online access to the Scriptures is

    blueletterbible (dot) org

God Bless all who study to show thyself approved.

  • @vudumojo That's right. The natural man cannot understand the things of God, no matter how one tries. It can only be understood by those who have received the free gift of eternal life and seek Jesus Christ daily through the reading of His Holy inherent word, and praying for discernment of course. It was prophesied He would speak in parables and so He did thus fulfilling that prophecy. As time went on the Apostles understood more & more prophecies concerning Christ. God bless brother.

  • Ps 78:2 is the fulfillment of Matt 13:35 and why Jesus spoke in parables. One must remember,Jesus only ministered to the nation of Isreal. And though many rejected Him, there was and is still a remnant of Jews who believe and understand His word. The Holy Spirit is who gives understanding to those who study and seek God thru His word. After Jesus ascended & Paul took the Gospel to the gentiles, it was no mystery as how to be saved. God reveals His word to those who diligently seek it in humility.

  • ...and Psalm 78:2-4 is a great addition to this discussion!

  • @calvinclemons030 You said, ".U have to b saved 2understand"

Amen! His sheep hear his voice and they understand. When the Disciples asked Jesus WHY he spoke in parables this was his answer, so that believers will be given MORE understanding but to them it is NOT given, therefore he spoke in parables SO THAT it would increase our understanding but be a snare for the rest.

It had a dual purpose. One purpose for the believer and another for the non-believer.

    This was WHY.

  • Ps78:2-4 I will open my mouth in a parable:I will utter dark sayings of old:Which we have heard and known , and our fathers have told us.We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD,and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done.1Cor2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God:for they are foolishness unto him:neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.U have to b saved 2understand
