Moose in Anchorage are accustomed to people. They are born and raised in our neighborhoods. They are not skittish around cars, humans or dogs generally. These calves were only about a week old. Mother was not too worried about them. If a dog went after the little ones, she would probably get more aggressive, though. Last year we had new borns in the yard (w/afterbirth still attached) and the little ones left the mother and walked toward me. Mother didn't even look up.

We did exit our house. We were standing on our deck. Moose in Anchorage are not generally aggressive. I put the sprinkler out for them when I noticed mother was panting heavily behind the shed. My son realized she was hot. Do you live in AK?

This is the most adorable thing I have ever seen! And what a huge heart you have to have turned the water on for them. Some people do not care to get involved....but you just made that mommas day and her babies! I love this!

I live in Anchorage and had a momma moose come every year with her baby's for 8 years. It is sad to not see her anymore and her baby's come great us. I sure miss them all!

I used to live in Fairbanks, Alaska and we would have Moose in our yard all the time...Sometimes Mama with babies and then babies would come back as young adults....They would eat up left over garden plants in the green house....one of them liked pancakes too!! Would come up to my kitchen window and poke her head through.....LOL!!

I miss seeing them....it was such a precious site...
