this was a magnificent sound.. i still liked them thru wind & wuthering.. the hacket work in the 2 gabriel-less albums that follow "lamb", was some of his personal best.. out of the blue sometimes i catch myself whistling los endos.. can't say why.. i remember recording from the radio the live version of "seconds out".. it was a huge moment of sound for me, even tho gabriel wasn't there..

A very nice play of voices.

@tacomadc "Trick of the Tail" is as good, if not better than any Gabriel era album plus it's recorded way better, especially the drums & bass. If you have a good system it really cranks. Phil also was the drummer on the first 2 or 3 Brand X albums which are classics of the fusion genre. On the first Brand X album "Unorthodox Behaviour," Phil's drums are right in front of the mix & sound massive, like he was playing in a cave.

@bananeskit A true user of the English language (especially in front of millions online) should be able to use that language correctly. It's 'Gabriel's' - with an apostrophe. Idiot.

@ArchieMoore The commercial Genesis of the 1980s was a very different band from the more artistic Genesis of the 70s (despite sharing three musicians, Collins, Rutherford and Banks). The early Genesis was more interesting, though it wasn't without some flaws of its own (sometimes too pretentious for its own good)
I hated genesis for so long when I grew up because of Phil Collins, I ignored any further investigation into their body of work... but now I discover they were actually cool; when Peter Gabriel was at the helm. Loving being enlightened by delving into the back catalogue!
