A tribute to the late Joe Paterno.

"Few people are responsible for building something that will last forever. ... Coach Paterno was first and foremost an educator, whose immeasurable contributions to Penn State, the coaching profession and the entirety of college sports, will be felt permanently. That is the legacy of a great leader." - Mike Krzyzewski, Duke Basketball Coach

(Lyrics Below)

A son to the game, A father to us all
You may be gone today but your soul will never fall
Goodbye to a hero, to a coach, to a friend
To a mentor, to a teacher who has found his end

2006 he's in the College Football Hall of Fame
2011 wins his 409th game
Played Quarterback and Cornerback at Brown
And then decided to make State College his town

Turned down offers for the Patriots and Giants
Said no to Michigan cause he's a Nittany Lion
Undefeated season 5 times in his career
Not to mention 3 time Big Ten Coach of the Year

Pay respects to the man who did so much in his time
The man who never even wanted a dime
Loved the students so much that he built them a library
The man who's memory we will always carry

They say Legends never Die and live forever
When they're taken from us it's only for the better
They depart this earth never to return
Living in our hearts and all we do is yearn

And ponder how could this type of thing occur
One person has thousands at a loss for words
Wondering what they had to be taken for
The pieces of our hearts fall to the floor

Everyone sends their blessings like he just said Achoo
Condolences expressed by those gathered at his statue
Showed us how a football team should be run
With 37 Bowl Games and 24 Won

His words of wisdom inspired those around him
In troubled times supporters had his house surrounded
Cause we know his character, we love him that's for sure
A man who Penn Staters will always see as pure

Took the head coaching job in 1965
Been around longer than most of us have been alive
Not a professor but thank you for the lessons that you taught and
Know that your legacy can't ever be forgotten

Sure you're not around, but long live your spirit
Your voice is unforgettable so we can always hear it
As we walk through life, you will never be far
We Are Penn State, We'll always know who You Are

They say Legends never Die and live forever
When they're taken from us it's only for the better
They depart this earth never to return
Living in our hearts and all we do is yearn

And ponder how could this type of thing occur
One person has thousands at a loss for words
Wondering what they had to be taken for
The pieces of our hearts fall to the floor

  • YOU KNOW WHAT'S GREAT? EVERY SINGLE PATERNO SITE FILLED WITH UGLY POSTS, ESPECIALLY THOSE BY THE "SUPPORTERS"

THE LEGACY IS WHAT IT DESERVES TO BE.

THANK YOU SUPPORTERS FOR REVEALING YOURSELVES FOR WHAT YOU ARE.

    YOU'RE WELCOME!

  • GOTTA LOVE JOEPA. HE WAS NO SNITCH!

  • @bmadden5710 Right. Joe didn't report the alleged abuse because he didn't want to ruin anyone's weekend. How can anyone blame him for that?
