  • I'm from Philadelphia (post gastric bypass) and am currently seeing a hematologist to manage my iron deficiency (Dr. Bhatia from TJUH). He has a very passive approach toward my treatment regimen, and even though he is treating me, I'm not sure he is very skilled in the management of iron deficiency. Can you recommend me to someone in the Philadelphia area who specializes in this particular area of hematology? My serum ferritin levels remain <10 despite PO and IV Fe therapy.

  • My name is Jesse. I am from Bakersfield, CA. I have been diagnosed with anemia for a few years. I am currently undergoing my second series of iron infusion in as many years. When I start a series, during the first 3 infusions I usually feel kind of sick and just all around crappy. I get a bad taste in my mouth and it kind of makes me sick. At around the 4th infusion it is less so and I start to feel better. I get about six infusions and then the monitor me. First time raised my levels to normal.
