Nuba Mountains, Central Sudan 2002. In support of cease fire agreement between Sudan People's Liberation Army/SPLA and Government of Sudan (GOS.
Nuba Mountains is technically in the northern portion of Sudan. The 2005 peace agreement included an addendum or protocol reference Nuba Mountains, South Koradafan State as part of the peace process between the SPLA/M and the Government of Sudan (GOS). The town of Kadugi is the "capital".
Viewers will note the proximity of the oil pipeline to the Port of Sudan in the north (the only terminal currently in Sudan)..and thereby the importance of the Nuba Mountains which has been occupied by SPLA forces since the onset of the war which commenced in 1983. The interdiction of the pipeline was the main objective for SPLA forces in the region. Also, please try the website: www.nubamountains.com
