  • i have known meredith ever since she came to visit my hometown in the mid 80s. she is a phenomenal woman, and she is a true friend to me. i believe her music reaches us at a levels we never knew we had in our psyches and souls. she has the rarest of gifts. i love her. love, amy <3

  • I was first turned onto Meredith Monk as an undergraduate student studying music composition. I feel to this day that she is probably one of the most innovative vocalists ever to grace the stage. I am not speaking just of her technical prowess, but more to the point, I refer to her fearless approach to the use of the voice as an instrument. I could only compare to her, perhaps, Rachelle Ferrell (think her 1980's performance of "Autumn Leaves" with Michel Petrucciani).
