You nailed it. There is no real "curse" per se but rather a mental curse.. Somewhere in the back of their minds they have to have the extra added tension of being on the wrong side of history. Add that to the fact of simply playing in Chicago where there is a lot of expectations and media focused in on you, and it's a lot of added tension for a player to cope with in an already tense sport. They will need players with unprecedented mental toughness to rise above that and win it all.

The reason the cubs don't win isn't because they are fighting history. they aren't winning because cubs fans are the worst fans in history. They bring fans with signs that say..."I can't wait another 100 years" to the first playoff game in 2008, and have thrown trash on their own field. I hate the cubs because of their fans and not the history.
