  • What do you mean it's not the cheapest of it's kind? It's the cheapest digital SLR Nikon sells isn't it?

  • @spurpop Nikon is not the only manufacturer of DSLRs.

  • When I'm done with school I'm going for a photographer-education. Im looking for a camera that I can sort of "practice" with. I have had just a little bit of experience with these kind of cameras, so do you think I should get one? Remember I'm a beginner.

  • @MTG115 This is a perfect beginners camera. Affordable, well specified and lots of built-in help for inexperienced users.

  • I've been wondering if Megapixels really make a diference to image quality. I know it's a terribly obvious "yes" but then I hear people saying that mega don't matter all that much. It confuses me lol. ATM all I have is a rather dull Samsung compact with only10.2 megapixels, and the Nikon here is the same amount. In short, even though they're both same megapixels, will I stlil see a considerably better quality from the Nikon?

Sorry, I'm still a camera novice ya see XD

  • @DeadWhiteButterflies Size of sensor is more important than how many pixels. All compact cameras now have enough. So do DSLRs, unless you're a pro needing to make giant, highly detailed images. Just because two cameras have same number of pixels doesn't mean quality will be the same. Other factors are important too, especially processor and lens.

  • @hzuzuknowsall nope, though i believe the 3100 does. (the 3100 is the newer version)

  • does it ave a video mode?

  • If you buy a nikon please do not buy anything from best buy, they sold me a d3000 and a month later the d3100 came out and would not upgrade me into the 3100 even though they sold me the bottom end dslr.

  • well, the videocamera which took this video, needs a VR system

  • Nikon D3000 or Canon T2i ?

  • @Nikon6762 100% AGREE The Nikon D3000 was not a very good camera. Put it this way..There are still unsold Nikon D3000 camera,s for sale even though it has been discontinued well over a Year now. What does that tell you about the Nikon D3000. Pay the extra few £$ and buy the Nikon D3100. Don't get me wrong The D3000 is an OK camera..But that is ALL it is.. OK The D3100 is a class beater and is THE best entry DSLR camera on the market. It beats the Canon 1100d HANDS DOWN!!!!

  • Don't buy the 3000-get the 3100!!!

  • @BSCVortex No, it can only take pictures.

  • @Amyfan2000 Yes. As long as you're not just buying the camera body, you will get the lens kit, which includes an 18-55 mm Nikkor lens.

  • I've had this camera for over a year and a half and love it. It's my very first DSLR and it has really helped me improve my photography skills. I've also purchased a couple of additional lenses as well as a tripod for it. I highly recommend this camera, especially if you're new to DSLR cameras. Even when I get a new Nikon camera body, I will still keep my D3000 as a backup.
