Yes English has French and Latin influences. But thats because of the Roman empire.

English is nothing like French. For example our nouns do not take on masculin/feminim, and as a result, or do adjectives.

German is not a big influence on English. Unless you can provide examples?

Welsh were renouned for their longbowmen. But it terms of homefront, wales was always at a major disadvantage.

Saying a nation has crap fighters because they were tyrannized by an imperialistic bastard empire roughly 50x larger isn't really fair, is it? If anything, it's a testament to how individually powerful the Welsh are (historically) that they held out as long as they did.

and yes it was the first english because before the anglo-saxons came along, there was no england.
unless your welsh, irish or scotish, your almost definetly going to be decended from the anglo-saxons or some other invaders
