@tscotwv Right. I still have trouble digesting that, even four years later because of how much history it destroyed. Tony's (Andre's) return in 1993-1995 was a very Michael Corleone-style story where he fought his dark side and eventually accepted his place as his father's son, then 2002-2005 was him coming to terms with his inheritance of the empire. I would have rather that Tony switched with Andre in New Salem... it would have preserved all the history AND the stuff from the 80's Hogan liked.

Well, the rewrite that it was Andre all along in Salem during Thaao's era's with the show between 93-07 didnt occur until 07 when Hogan Sheffer was headwriter. The previous writers intended for it to be really Tony, so of course alot of the portrayal was Tony-like. The character becoming insane (salem stalker, framing john for his murder over kristen) was just so unlike Tony, that even Thaao added his own imposter mannerisms to the scenes. Hence, it left it possible to retcon the character.

This definitely seems like Tony.... Andre wouldn't have rebelled against his father's wishes like that.
