I know a lot of ppl are commenting on how "they" turned Mary's and Cindy's microphones down, but in Mary Wilsons book, she said (and I believe it referred to this performace), that after a certain time, she and Cindy would just sing lower regardless because they knew thier microphones

are you crazy the owner of the copa told berry if florence was not with the supremes dont come back. all three were relavent to the group.diana was an ass kisser and used sex to get what she wanted out of gordy.another thing diana couldnt hang with marvin when they recorded together.so they had them record separately. tammi was only 20 and she could hang with marvin. however iam a dtana fan but give credit where its do.florence could sing her ass off.

Clearly Diana Ross was running the sing-a-long...just moments away from stardom as a single performer. Mary was trying like all hell to keep up with her...to stay relevant so the audience would know and maybe even care that she was there. I understand why she would do that, but it's kinda sad, too.
