Like your project. For others watching and, thinking about making one, don't get hung-up. Critical part is the layout using a chromatic scale, number of tubes and the positioning. Tubes are placed slightly apart so it is easy to avoid a double strike, hence the reason for different levels too. Tuning is accomplished with an electronic tuner and, the tail piece is cut and fitted till the pipe is tuned. Frame, frame height, type of pipe, PVC adhesive color, pipe mounting are personal choice.

I think that it will be great sound with delay with appropriate tap time

this is a seriusly ramming instrument haha

@tylervanbach is the math done for a closed or open pipe?
-
@tylervanbach can you describe the math to me?
i'm guessing the frequency is a function of the inside area and air pressure, but i'm curious about the specifics.

Those mallets suck. You need something that wont bang the edges of the tubes.
-
@minidude09 Yeah, you are absolutely right. Good call.

Thanks for sharing your tougths and technics, This song you just played sounds like an old folk song

@minidude09 wtf
As to a tutorial for how to make it - take PVC pipe, looks like 3", apply saw. There you have it.
Seriously, just cut a chunk, aim it at a chromatic tuner and and hit the end with the flat of your hand. see where it sounds. Cut it short to sharpen the tone to the perfect pitch.

@Beemerboy324 This is pretty much what I did. I started using math, but I did all of the measurements outside in florida heat so when I went inside, it was always flatter.
