This is "One Chip Arduino".
The circuit of LilyPad arduino is mounted on the DIP of ATmega88/168.
Using internal clock 8MHz.

  • This also would reduce the cost of Arduino for those little users .

  • Why not 16 Mhz in the clock .

    Maybe you can use additional IC Socket on the Atmega, and you solder those components to the socket if you affraid with burning the IC, this may be a different approach but yeah, same concept on minimizing arduino size =)
