@merekbow Accumulation of THINGS, not wealth

@TheLackofattack Not inherently. There are many instances where the converse is true, but in any event, my post only highlighted the fact that each pursuit is fueled by different motivations. The subject of morality, while a compelling line of discussion, doesn't really apply to what I wrote, though I can see how the first sentence might imply otherwise if taken out of context.

@GeneralGrin Part 1.) Your selection from 1:26-1:33 is out of context and irrelevant to the video. The Horga'hn's is a statuette symbolizing fertility, displaying it publicly meant one was seeking jamaharon, a mysterious and pleasurable sexual practice native to that world. Riker asked Picard to get a horga'hn for him while the he vacationed on Risa. An employee spotted the item and got the wrong idea about Picard.

There is a difference in the accumulation of wealth, for wealth sake and collecting mementos dude.
This video is hilarious!!
@Rickdeckard2020 Well, there is a huge difference between archaeology and consumerism. I think the writers were spot on in infusing Picard, an explorer, with a passion for historical relics. It's not as if the advent of replicators will suddenly render museums obsolete. ;)
