With global warming dominating the political agenda, 'carbon footprint' and 'renewable energy' have become the latest buzzwords. Only renewable power, claim environmentalists, can enable us to maintain our current lifestyles without destroying the world. Tired of waiting for government action, states like California are taking the lead. In setting their own ambitious renewable energy targets, they're forcing industries to make the switch. But countries like Australia remain firmly wedded to coal. Is renewable energy capable of meeting the needs of a modern economy? We investigate.

  • California is the most broke state in the US. It's best not to follow their example.

  • You really believe in global warming? Seriously? The research has been debunked, the "scientific data" shown to be corrupt, and the scientists leading the charge shown to be less than honest. Bite me!

  • @sgoodman0210 Study up son, Texas has a big debt, but they are in far better shape than Cali. Texas is creating jobs faster than Cali is losing them. Reason being, no state tax and less government red tape. Cali has the worst credit rating of all 50 states, because it has been run by spend and tax liberals.

  • @hawkermustang

You mean like how Texas has a budget crisis proportionally the same as California?

  • @hawkermustang yes, but those liberalist policies that bankrupted california have nothing to do with it's alternative energy initiatives. Environmental initiatives only accounts for 1.1% of their total expenditures

  • @Unclesamslair The state is super liberal and ran by democrats that is how, and that is why Cali is broke. Huge gov. tax and spend policies. Cali should look at what a conservative state like Texas is doing, they are creating jobs as fast as Cali is losing them.

  • @hawkermustang Could you please show me how California's environmentalist policies have anything to do with them being broke? It's not like they're the only state that's broke.

  • damn! I thought this was an Earth, Wind & Fire music group documentary! Where is Maurice White and Phillip Bailey?! I ain't seen them yet! haha! You're a Shining star! No matter who you are!

  • The Chinese laugh at you fools! lol

  • @hawkermustang anymore like u at home,that lived???.

  • @hawkermustang your crazy California is the richest, it can live as its own nation
