  • Well it be ok to have just dirt from the ground as the base?

  • @Spikced Ya, sounds good. :)

  • what were you all cookin? nice pit.

  • @65pyroman In the video, it was a chicken from the homestead but we also use a grate we got in Walmart's camping section. On that, we cook hamburgers, chicken, pork, steaks, and sausage. We have found this is our favorite way to cook on it... well... smores are the kids' favorite. ha. Thanks for your comment. :)

  • This is good for people who don't want to cook in it. It's better for people wo want a big fire or have massive amounts of wood they want to get rid of.

  • @dkuntz2155 We build a small fire in the center and use a grate we bought at Walmart to place over the fire. It all fits inside the fire pit. We have cooked several meals this way. Thanks for your comment. :)

  • Clever spit design! I'll be doing the same..thanks!

  • This is great. I just saw another one that required, like, 1 ton of sand, 1 ton of gravel, custom steel walls - I was like, "It's a fire on the ground, how is this so complicated?"

This solution is simple, effective, easily repaired, and you even gave instructions on an easy spit. Great job!

  • So simple a kid can do it!! This is perfect and simple project

  • nice video, good idea. thanks for sharing.

  • @ydamon123 Smaller sounds good. We don't ever use the whole thing either. We build a small fire in the middle and sit on the edge. Best of luck to you. Thanks for watching. :)
