I have the exact same problem...And for all those who keep saying that the drive is the problem, it is not. I have tested multiple drives (flashed with original one's key), none of them worked. It kept doing the same...So, I'm also thinking that it's not fixable.

@blakazzboi the problem may be with the cables that connect to your dvd drive, they may be damaged and for most people, un-repareable. I suggest buying a whole new xbox, theres really nothing else you can do.

First off you did a bad flash or else it would open but you also have another issue which isn't able to be fixed at the moment. The drive always says opening I have this issue but my drive opens and closes breifly. Can't figure it out tell me if you do. If you pull out the DVD drive power well the xbox is on and plug it back in it should say open tray.

See thats the thing i never did a flash i was in the process of starting one though but all i did was pressed eject and pulled the power plug in an attempt to place the drive in b mode but my connectivity kit never showed while in the mean time my dog bumped and closed the drive i hooked it back up anyways and yes it said open tray i press eject it go to closing briefly then its just opening i believe the answer lies within the blinking green power button. so wat do you think?

you may have some dust clogging the rods that the drive glides on to open and close. if that's not the problem order a new drive from the website advertised on xboxslave who is a member of youtube.

i have since then bought a new drive and still the same problem seems to be no communication between the drive and the console what so ever and the power button never stops blinking. any other suggestions?
