Actually, you're wrong.
When an Amish person is 19, they are allowed to live in the real world, party and do what ever for a week. After that, they have a choice to stay Amish or become someone of society, like you and me.

oh my goodness! :(

That's rubbish. Everyone is influenced by their family's religion (or lack of) as a child. Then we grow up and make our own minds up what we want to live as. Just like the Amish. Nobody forces them to be 'Amish' as adults, just as nobody is forced to be 'Christian' or 'Jewish' or 'Buddhist' or 'American' or whatever other label you care to use.

@perfectdark158 actually no they don't...they get to choose the life they want at the age of 16...they just do things the old fashioned way and there's really nothing wrong with that...at least they r not damaging the planet the way we r...
-
@perfectdark158 you just described every family regardless of the culture. They can leave when they are of age just like everyone else

@perfectdark158 "if you raise a child in the ways of the Lord, he shall not depart from it." Society forgets this part and also GOD. The quakers also left England for religious persecution. There are those that speak against religion and there are those that speak against religious practices and abhor such practices. People have a right to chose which religion they will bring a child into. The Amish did nothing wrong. There is worse. Children with bombs in Mid East, raised to be that way by MOM.

@KuostA actually it last some years....in a week you can't do much...
@mrteemumilto Yes, but the children of the Amish have their way of life chosen for them from the moment their born. They will never have the chance to live a normal life if they desired, at least not easily. The children never get to discover "themselves"; it is like those who are forced into a certain religion without ever getting to choose what they believe on their own.
