never seen anything that incredibly powerful, such emotions...I admire him not only as a skater but as a man too, and unbelievable how he manages to skate like God even when he's in such pain...a legend that will never be forgotten

Alexei Yagudin is the only skater who can skate to Chopin's Revolution Etude. It is amazing to see how he embodies this piece flawlessly.

HE IS ON FIRE!!!!!! Even injured he is amazing!

standing ovation for yagudin!

"it was all about heart and guts" :)
He's amazing!

His qualifying mark dragged him down. It was a disaster - a totally destroyed foot with painkillers injected directly into the sole for all three stages of the competition.
He pushed through this through sheer force of will. I saw it live and was totally floored. Anyone else would have dropped out!
I still think of him as the greatest competitor ever. I don't think anyone has ever loved competition the way he does.

I will never understand how he placed a mere third place after that masterpiece of a program. Its possibly the best short program he has EVER given!!!

UNF
He should've won the SP...

This is one of my all time favorite performances by Alexei Yagudin.
I would guess a 90% of figure skating fans may pick the "Winter" performance from the 2002 SLC Olympics but I much prefer this pgm.
If I am not mistaken he suffered a foot injury prior to the 2001 Worlds? and for him to put in his "guts & soul" into this circular & straight line footwork, a commitment to every edges, steps and the turns with so much emotions, wow!!!
the all time Greats in the figure skating,no doubt!
