To answer some of the peoples questions about red line RPM. I read that the CVT's input speed can't exceed 6,000 rpm. This realy shouldn't be a problem because max torque is way below that, and the CVT is designed to keep the rpms there. It is cool to shift it but it may run better by putting it in Sport Drive and let the CVT do its thing. By the Way, I love the sound.

What year and how many miles on your car?
I have a CVT in my 04 cooper. I have 49,700 miles without any problems so far. People have been telling me the CVT is weak and will break, but I have no first hand knowlege of it.

i was looking at 08 mini clubman s, and salesman didn't say anything at all about cvt, or the semiauto mode or anything. was it just for certain yearsi take it?

if its a cvt, then why does it not hit one main rpm range then stay there as all other cvt vehicles i have driven do?

because you can use the semiautomatic mode of the cvt with 6 gears
