  • This car is indeed a Death trap. When you are getting cut out of this pile of shit in an accident and you are paralised from the neck down, You will be pleased you saved a couple of $/£ on your fuel bill. BIG CARS = SAFER CARS (As a rule)

  • @matsui2001 Not exactly...weight, height, effectiveness of crumple zones and strength of the passenger cell are the main features which determine whether a car is safer than another car or not. Watch "watch?v=emtLLvXrrFs" and "watch?v=tI61KeZ9T6M"...

  • @0cnpgs0 Car safety is moving fast all the time but I did say at the end of my statement (As a rule) When I said Big cars = Safer cars. Here is an example for you to imagine suppose you had the choice of being in one of these two cars in a head on crash where both cars were doing 40MPH (64KM/H) Which one would You choose... A 1980 Mercedes W123 or a 2010 Year Model Vauxhall/Opel Corsa? I would choose the 30 Year old Mercedes EVERYTIME. As a rule the bigger car is deemed to hold the advantage.

  • @matsui2001 By "As a rule" I thought you implied "always"... ;)

In reality what matters is weight, not size; that said, larger cars do tend to be heavier (but not necessarily).

As for which I'd choose...don't know tbh. On one hand I know that Mercedes' have generally been very advanced vehicles in terms of safety, with strong passenger cells. However I also know that as you say there is a 30 year gap in technology; the Corsa did rather well (analysing structure stifness) in Euro NCAP tests.

  • Oh! God to protect and watching us...... It's very dengerous

  • @matsui2001 It's true, but I really don't like it when large organisations use that attitude... If everyone had huge cars there wouldn't really be a safety advantage anymore and it still won't work against bigger vehicles like trucks... and motorcyclists, cyclists, horse riders and pedestrians will be even more vulnerable...

  • @DeathlyHall0w Probably, at least you can't get trapped in it! It's kinda ironic really, I ride a bicycle everywhere, but if I wanted to get a car, I would only buy one with a safety rating of 4 stars or above... My bike isn't capable of more than 20MPH usually though, so it kind of makes sense.

  • unfassbar!!!

  • @matsui2001 check out things such as the 'ford ranger' or 'ford F150' etc - pickups and 4x4's consistently score lower on all crash tests than smaller cars, so as a rule LARGE CARS = UNSAFE CARS. Given that larger cars have A) a greater braking distance and b) more susceptible to rolling over, this is even more true. generally the a) lighter the chassis and b) greater the size of the crumple zone gives the optimum safety performance.

  • @johndragonman same boat my friend, im on the same boat.

  • I drive a fiat cinquecento with a 899cc engine, the older model to this car (basically this car with just a little more square corners)

i only drive this car because of the stupidly high insurance prices in the UK. i have been driving now for 6 months and i am a 23 year old male and the cheapest insurance i can find is £1645!

The insurers WANT you to drive in a death trap, in hope you will drive in fear because of it.

the UK.. what more can i say? we were once great.. not any more.

  • what a joke.. i bet my bicycle earns a higher NCAP rating

  • @LFCEOIN well they never test crashed it

  • @Annihilator1111 its probably worse than this
