At start of play New Mills FC were three points clear at the top of the North West Counties League Division 1. This was the final 'title deciding' match of the season and the home side AFC Fylde needed a win that would guarantee them the title thanks to their superior goal difference. Leading 1-0 at the break through a Jackson goal Kellamergh Park erupted when the referee awarded a penalty for handball after good wing play from Mick Horsfall. In this video Joe Booth stepped up to rifle it into the bottom corner despite the best efforts of the keeper.
