Composer Tan Dun is best known for his film scores-like 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon'. Concerto for String Orchestra & Pipa was composed in 1999 and is based on an earlier work he wrote for the Kronos String Quartet-Ghost Opera. www.TanDunOnline.

A well known child prodigy, she gave her first pipa concert at age 6. She studied at the prestigious Shanghai Conservatory of Music.
