Other than fish nibbles and crawdad nips, I don't see why you couldn't swim in the tank. I think the biofilter would handle any yuckie stuff.
Luke is sick and Gina overwhelmed, likely not this weekend on the fish, although I could probably finagle next if it's an option.
you say you've lost one fish this year yet there are 2 dead fish on the ground at 2:10

I should have clarified - lost one *tilapia*. What you're seeing there is probably a bluegill, which I lost a couple of. In most of the cases, the cause of death was the same; they swim too close to the pump and get sucked in. The water jug fix shown here worked ok, but it trapped a lot of poop Next year I think I'll probably make some kind of cage. Either way, good eye, Ecritik!

I got a 320 gallon stock tank ($150 at a farm supply) and dropped it in the backyard in mid August. I had one "miracle tilapia," 3 crawdads and 2 large koi that survived the pH disaster. I bought a dozen minnows, a dozen goldfish and 3 more koi and threw them in with some scraggly plants. It's just getting started, but the size thing (320 gallons) is amazing. It has gone completely green with algae. I hope to bury it in the yard and cover with a makeshift greenhouse this winter. We'll see.

320 gallons? The heck with the fish - Luke needs a swimming pool!
Lmk if you want help with that greenhouse. Sounds like a fun fall project. Meanwhile, you and might have to make a day-trip down to the valley and get you some cichlids to take care of that algae.

Hey good to see an update and your happy fish. My algae is out of control this year so I'm going to rig an umbrella of my own.

I thought you came home to a bucket of floaters? Did you steal some of Sylvia's fish?
My algae was getting pretty thick before I had the tilapia in there. The bluegill just don't care for it. Turns out, btw, that the bluegill and the tilapia make fine tank-mates. They seem to get along pretty well.
