Zach Wahls Speaks About Family

Zach Wahls, a 19-year-old University of Iowa student spoke about the strength of his family during a public forum on House Joint Resolution 6 in the Iowa House of Representatives. Wahls has two mothers, and came to oppose House Joint Resolution 6 which would end civil unions in Iowa.

There's nothing wrong with being gay, no matter what the Bible says. The Bible was written by men, who, the majority of the time, don't have enough brains to realise that people can feel love for one another no matter their sex.

This is actually so incredible. My uncles are gay and married and they have a beautiful 7 year old daughter. She's no different then anyone else. She has friends who have 2 dads, 2 moms, and one of each. When I see all of her friends together in one room, you really can't tell who was raised by who.every child is their own person. They won't be any different if they were raised by gays. I hate when people say your child will turn out gay if raised by gays. Not true, they're just more open minded

I'm crying. This gives me hope that in the next few years, by the time I'm an adult, I can marry the love of my life in my own country without having to fly across the ocean to hers. That I can hold her hand while we walk down the street without shaky fingers or sweaty palms or nervous, darting eyes always watching the people around us for ridiculing or rude looks. This country claims it's all about freedom. I don't feel very free living in it right now
