  • The man is indeed a genius. After watching The West Wing over and over again, it feels like I know him like an old friend. He always did come across as slightly unimpressive in these kind of interviews though, but that's the case with many great writers; they're all clumsy and shy and awkward in person, but give them a typewriter and they become brilliant men of the world.

  • true true true, but the west wing, which i didn't start watching till sorkin was already gone , but i now have the entire season dvd set, is absolutely incredible, characters so complet andreal, i dont know how he does it

  • He writes his genius bullshit from a well-lit room because that's what the rich and happy do nowadays.

  • @jflash214 ...........He smokes crack on occasions. But I don't care. He's still a great writer. I bet he writes while he's high.

  • @WhitStillman

    Very true!

  • Great writer. When you watch his work, watch how fast-paced the dialogue is. Bang, bang, bang... it comes at you fast and almost non-stop. No one really talks like that in reality but on the screen it works. Watch any of his works and you will see what I mean.

  • Sorkin has created many of my all time favorite shows. One of the few that actually writes intelligent programming. West Wing, Sports Night, Stuido 60, etc. I watch these all the time. I'm even considering spending the money to get HBO just to see his new series.

  • I'm a big fan of The Social Network, I really am. I just love the witty dialogue. However I must say that he kinda looks like Jim Carrey.

  • I don't know if he related this thought during this particular interview, but I once heard him say, (and I'm paraphrasing) "a writer who hangs out the set of his own movie is like a whore who's been fucked, paid, and is waiting around for the john to buy her breakfast."

This guy is just such a treasure, don't know what I'd do without the "West Wing."

    Thanks for posting these clips.
