Debunking the myth of cholesterol & getting to the real cause of heart attacks
Americans have been bombarded with advertising that warns against the dangers of cholesterol and how it can lead to heart disease and heart attacks. However, many people don't even know how or where the obsession with cholesterol began.

In 1966, Harvard conducted the famous Framingham cholesterol study. The results of the study concluded that a cholesterol count of 300 was good. For most people, this meant moderate changes in diet alone. Surprisingly, the overall rates of heart attacks and heart disease did not go down. In the 1980's, the acceptable number for a healthy cholesterol level was lowered to 244. This figure was a bit harder to attain, but could be accomplished by most with both diet and exercise. Once again, no notable decrease in heart attacks or heart disease was found.
