This is the third exercise of eleven shown on the complete video, The Art of Gesture Drawing, taught by artist Ellen Soderquist. Here Ellen takes you through the four styles of gesture drawing: mass, line & mass, contour, and scribble. You'll see her students draw using these styles and Ellen will discuss the results. Since gesture drawing usually involves a nude model, we have censored this sample, but the complete 1hr. 19min., uncensored video is available at www.teachingtapes.net.

  • What is with you Americans? Why is there a black oval over the top of your model? This is true even of artists in the USA? You are all insane prudes.

  • wish i was there

  • Superb video. I will take note and watch it again and again.

  • @zekehooper One persons art is another persons porn. lol

  • to bad youtube blocks out nudes for art. I understand if it is just porn but this is different.

  • Hi,

That model must be quite professional, because although I'm not an expert, it doesn't seem to be a position easy to hold, even for gesture drawing.

    But maybe I'm wrong :-)
