  • Thios is NOT Benny Goodman playing here! Fair clarinet playing, but not "virtuosity."

  • @FatManDoubleZero It doesn't have to be virtuostic, this is jazz.

  • I just spent an hour doing cuts on the Vanessa Hudgens song, Lets Dance, for a dance company I work for. Now, I am rewarding myself by listening to a tolerable song called "Lets Dance."

  • fucking heavenly :)

  • This is a re do

  • I am going to drive around in a restored Rolls-Royce, wearing a black pinstripe trench coat, black trouser, black dress shoes, a black business fedora, listening to Benny Goodman, in 2012

  • BEAUTIFUL!!!!!

  • @SheridanJazz This is NOT Abe Most playing here. This is in fact the one and only Beny Goodman performing on this clip. Thie voicing and remarkable "swelling tone" of his clarinet is distinct, phenonenal and is as unique as his own signature. As a true music aficionado and student in fine detail I can assure you that this is the "real deal."

  • @FatManDoubleZero I have a copy of the original "Lets Dance." The intonation, tonal quality, phrasing, breathing, etc. of the artist in this clip is IDENTICAL to my copy of Benny Goodman playing this tune. This IS Benny Goodman playing here, and anyone who thinks otherwise is living in denial. Virtuostic playing can be a "subjective" judgement to some degree. Due to the exquisite tonal quality not easily duplicated, I rate this piece as showing virtuosity incarnate.

  • @FatManDoubleZero Correct--my best guess is it's the late Abe Most. Billy May was in charge of this series, and Most was his go-to guy when it came Goodman-Shaw recreations and the like

  • simply sweet & smooth :) ... brings a smile to my face
