What happens when you use Darik's Boot and Nuke? Well, exactly what you'd expect. If you don't want to try it on your own computer just yet, see how my laptop got securely wiped. 3 times. Nice tool, thanks Darik!

  • How long did it take?

  • @yaitsbilly Not sure if I remember correctly, but I think it took about 30 minutes to an hour. Depends on drive speed and size.

  • Yes it wipes *all* drives if you type in "autonuke", but it can do a single drive, too. Reinstalling windows on a wiped drive requires a windows installation disk. The recovery CD is only to help you repair an existing installation, and can not re-install windows for you.

    Take care.

  • @WonkyDoodle what he said. And all you have to do is put the windows disc in the drive and boot the computer from the windows disc. Easy. I have used Dariks boot n nuke a few times. Works very well. It also ensure a extra clean install of windows!

  • i assume it wipe all the drives it can see including the usb drive too? once this is done, how do you reinstall windows from recovery cd?
