It's the Semi-Finals and the guys are up against Sugar Creek. Will LW go onto the final or be upstaged by Sugar Creek's lead singer who has Michael Jackson's leg kick and Diamond Dave's high jump down pat????? (Yes, I know you already know the answer, just humor me. ;o)

LIMITED WARRANTY's Atco debut now available for the FIRST time ever on CD on Wounded Bird Records!!! Order your copy today!!! (woundbird DOT com)

Many thanks to Paul L & Brian L for getting these clips to me. Many hugs and thanks for the support of the LW band members themselves.

  • not sure, I just remember telling them after they performed Huey Lewis heart and soul that if they had done that they would have won. Cool dance moves!!!!

  • Well, from what I've seen, I think the Bands were required to do original music. To be honest I think what hindered Sugar Creek was the judges not knowing what genre' that the band fit in. There name is too country, the dance moves to rock, the outfits seemed more modern country for the time, and the song kinda fell thru everything. Tho to be fair, Limited Warranty's outfits were abit Devo-ish, while the hair-dos were DuranDuran.

  • I graduated in 84 and saw Sugarcreek at the Magic attic in Myrtle Beach. I thought they had just lost starsearch, but wasn't sure.

  • Hmmm, was it just lost in the semi-finals on SS or had just lost a round? I know you had to win so many rounds in a row before you quailify for the semi finals... 3 I think. So it must be Fall/Winter '84 that everything was taped. Like Miss America.. crowd afew months before the actual year of her reign. lol

  • What year was this?

  • Late '84 or early '85. I'm thinking they started taping the '85 season show in

Fall '84? If I'm wrong someone please let me know.

  • I, personally, think Sugarcreek was more deserving. Limited Warranty seems too much like every other band of the time. Sugarcreek had great stage presence, nice vocals, and a good look.

Not to mention the guys from Sugarcreek actually danced and "felt" the music instead of jumping up and down over and over and over and over....

  • I've been wanting to see the Sugarcreek on Star Search for a very long time. Thank you for posting it!

  • I've been looking for a Sugar Creek clip for a while. Thanks for posting the entire band performance for both!

  • Yes they did! Always good to hear from other LW fans. ;o)
