Trump Tower Chicago - Spire Installation - January 3, 2009

This video shows the last hour of installation of the spire atop the 92-story Trump International Hotel & Tower Chicago, on Saturday, January 3, 2009. The installation on this day took over 4 hours. I only caught the last part (around 1pm) because I woke up late. This video (sped up 8x) was filmed almost 3 miles away, so unfortunately it's not very clear. At the end of my video, you will see the Sikorsky S-61 helicopter fly by on its way to Midway Airport.

Please note that the spire installation on this day isn't fully completed. Fiberglass on a few sections around the steel trusswork still needs to be installed.

It's not finished yet. They still have to wrap it with fiberglass. And I'm sure it'll lit up when it's complete.

How many feet high is it?I dont like it in that location,its blocking out the tremendous view from the john hancock building.And,how much taller is it to the empire state building?Its realy sad it nocked the empire state building off the top ten worlds tallest buildings.

God i remember walking around the city during the summer when that was just about to go up. Damn its been like 3 years.. I did'nt think it took that long heh
