A review video from justastudio

Drum machine is my middle name what is yours?
The MFB-502 is a little awesome thing which can be tweaked to some point, but nevertheless the sounds are great and there is stereo output along with individual outputs.

Tracked through FMR RNC1773 and TC konnekt8 using Cubase.

Reverb, EQ, compression and limiter added in the final mix/mastering.

Please keep in mind that this track was entirely done for showing what the MFB-502 is capable of.

  • This is cool. These things are supposed to be pretty cheap right?

  • Yep - they are pretty cheap :)

  • It sounds like a tr-606. Dont you think so?

  • more 606 than 808/909 :)

  • How much in USA?

  • go to there website, this has 7 instruments and the other has 9.

  • Looks the same as the 522. What's the difference?

  • I can't find the original sound, but I think it might have something to do with the final mix process reverb/compressor/limiting?

Hmmm... But, it's NOT noisefree at all it as some hiss noise sounds, but they blend very well with the actual sound of the machine.

  • Actually I just noticed, the hum stops at one point when you press the red button on the left (1:44).. then it seems to slowly fade in again

  • Hmm... have been looking to possibly buy an MFB, but I occasionally hear things about the outputs being noisy/etc... its hard to tell though!

  • Good question, but I think it might be the reverb. Or maybe from the hihat section as we actually had some problems with it.
