PRESENTED BY KIERON BLACK
Born in Belfast, raised in Scotland and living in Dublin for many moons now, Robin James Hurt plays guitar like a 'demon gadgie' (Edinburgh vernacular). He also sings like a wee bird, plays mandolin like a man doling, composes, arranges and, when asked nicely, engineers sound.

With a rich background in touring and recording with all manner of Irish and Scots musicians - from the old guard and the more established (such as Ronnie Drew and Sinead O'Connor) to the contemporary and challenging (West Seventies, Gael Slí, Burnish, Linda Coogan, Jody Trehy, Bohínta, Martin Furey, Black Romantics, many more...), Robin is now also performing solo, bringing to the public a fascinating collection of material.

The style is his own, the songs and tunes run the gamut of Irish and Northern British folk music and beyond. Original compositions intertwined with re-arrangements of Border ballads, Irish and Scottish folksong, and spoken word; all sprinkled with spiked, lo-fi quirkiness and performed with genuine warmth and passion.

Robin's debut solo release is "The Spider's Legs", a 4-track EP available on CD, initially at gigs and through this site, released independently in March 2007. You can find Robin James Hurt, and his music, at the live shows listed above, or say howyeh here!
