Some insignificant people claim they're pirates, so they decided, "they say we're pirates, fine, we'll put a pirate flag on our ship".

Those people needed help in being freed from a dictatorship

@hom3fir3 if you look at the flag closely you can see it all has to do with the oceans they try to save
-
they stopped it , so i guess your wrong
it was very effective no matter what. if the japanese were serious about research, they wouldnt kill so many .
or are they just researching how good they die?
research my ass.

if the japs are smart an of why wont they just attack the sea Shepherd with small explosives to scare them off i would have done that if i was a jap pluse they have a pirate flag.
The IWC does allow a certain number of whales to be killed for scientific research but the IWC also declared that particular part of the ocean to be a marine sanctuary for whales. The japanese use one IWC ruling as an excuse to hunt whales, but dispute the other IWC ruling as "not binding". They pick and choose the laws they wish to follow. The Sea Shepherds try and prevent the whaling under UN GA RES 37/7: World Charter for Nature which specifically allows persons or associations to take action

@hom3fir3 The Sea Shepherds are there for several goals, the key one is PUBLICITY. To open some eyes and raise awareness on what's happening in the whale's sanctuary.
Then and only then will laws be changed. People have been blind to all this and that's how the japanese wanted to keep it. They're even fighting the wide spread release of "The Cove" in Japan. Violently, if they have to.
