How to root Droid X using Birdman's method from http://AllDroid.org

This is a video tutorial that demonstrates most of the steps required to root your Droid X. It's based on Birdman's method slightly modified by rainabba and includes busybox. The full tutorial and neccessary files can be found at: http://tiny.cc/DroidXRooted

The home launcher I'm using is ADW.Launcher by AnderWeb with the "Senses ADW Theme" by "GFX Android". The Live Wallpaper is "Silhouette Donation" by "Kittehface Software" (that's not a typo).

This video is definitely not for the novice. You use to many terms I don't know and and the video started telling me things to do, but I had no idea how to get what you had up on your screen up on mine. I felt like I was starting in the middle of the video. Can you recommend a more novice instructional video? I want to use the wifi on my Droid X, but I'm not a hacker. I need a step by step.

hey just curious. if i wanted to check the hardware on my phone, and i needed superuser status, how would i do that?

i tried

$ su root

#uname -p

but that doesnt work
