magyarul lsd. lent It was the lifestyle of the Hortobágy horsemen that led to the development of the prics [pronounced: pritch], or simple saddle, which had no fastening straps, so it could be switched from one horse to the other in a matter of moments.
During the interview, just such a saddle is visible above the head of Gábor, who is talking.
Excerpt from the interview: You could only sit on this saddle, you couldnt use it for support, like a box saddle. Even the stirrups are only there to stop the riders legs from swinging free, and they have to be let down as far as the feet, and no shorter. This is because if the stirrups are shorter, or the rider leans on the saddle, this leads to sores on the horses back.
The prics was a very comfortable and convenient saddle. When needed, the rider just threw it over the horse, there were no straps and buckles to adjust or fasten. When it wasnt needed, it could be removed just as easily, and the rider could then use it to sit or lie on. And there was no need to ride bareback.
Abroad, the saddle always generated a great deal of interest, as nobody had ever seen anything like it, but it was unique even in Hungary the prics is only used on the Hortobágy plain.
Other horsemen in Hungary use a more traditional saddle, and even the old Hortobágy landowners rode in the Tiszafüred type of saddle [named after a small town on the bank of the river Tisza].
------------------------------------
A többi magyarországi csikós nyerget használ ill. a régi hortobágyi gazdák is a tiszafüredi típusú nyeregben lovagoltak.
@druidahun That's right. Moreover later owning a saddle horse was forbidden, too, to preventing crimes made by outlaw riders. In the late 1860s there was wild western like scenes around Szeged. Well known outlaws derailed trains, ripped stage-coaches. Finally they from Wienna sent grauf Gedeon Ráday to put and end to the story, and gave him carte blanche. He arrested and abused every suspicious peolpe, made manhunts etc, and 4 years later delinquency was almost completely gone.

@Cantalupo67
Also ( as I know ), there is another explication: After the 1848 revolution, the saddle was forbidden by the austrians, beacuse a lot of herdsman joined as rebel against the austrian rule. And beacuse this kind of saddle doesn't have a belt, and stark construction, it doesn't count as real saddle.
Search for "patrac" and "priccs" in google if you want to see how does it look like.

@Cantalupo67 So etc is: you can't stand up on the saddle, because it is not practical when you're riding on the hors, because it shakes you so much, that is makes the saddles skin broken, and rude, so it's not the western style saddle with belt, and it's better for herding, 'cause when you fall down form the horse, you fall with the saddle, and the horse won't pull you for miles :D

@Cantalupo67 It is about, how people invented saddle without belt. It is used by herdsmen looking after horse, only in Hortobágy(Hungary), and the old heardsmen said, that you can't stand on the saddle, because it makes the skin rude, etc.
