encounter w sgt sefer / critical mass / july 2012

a woman is told off for offering an arrested muslim man water. it is ramadan and he has been fasting for over 19 hours. she subsequently encounters sergeant sefer - who tells her cycling is a crime and later arrests her for breaching a section 12 restriction placed on participants of a monthly safe-cycling demonstration called "critical mass".

Interaction with the police is seldom, if ever, a positive experience. Unfortunately critical mass is creating more of a negative, bordering on anti social in some instances. The officer did get in a bit of a muddle here, but bottom line is the man was detained under police caution which was made clear from the start. Silly girl should get on with cycling and enjoy the night.

I would like to think that police like him are in the minority. I am not so sure though.

There are a lot of police who do seem to be OK. However, this one is a fing tool. He manages to be petty, vindictive and pompous all at the same time.
