People always complain about missing the VK days but its not how they look its the music behind it. People need to understand that they wanted to be taken seriously not only just in Asia but world wide and they felt that this was the best way to do it. They don't deny their VK days but its not relevant to them right now. People were putting too much emphasis on their looks and not the songs. I think the day they move back to VK will be right before retirement. I hope that never happens.

On live TV in japan (and most of asia) they perform playback on television, so no one was actually playing, it was just Kyo to the instrumental.
(and by they I mean all music guests)

saves money from heavy makeup and clothes, and gains more fans. They still add a bit of VK to themselves today--mainly Toshiya--but they just modernized it

your comment is like a month old, haha... but i just wanted to say that i love your response about Diru VK!!!! i'm really glad that dir en grey are at where they are right now! VK was an awesome era, but it's over and done now, and i don't really want to see shinya in his dress, lol... but anyways, love your comment and everything you said!!!

i don't think they've left their visual kei days, it's more of their image has evolved into a different form of visual kei, and soon it'll evolve again and these songs will resurface and probably be remade, this is my favorite band and even if they decide to completely deny any former style I'll still support them. lol, all thier music is great and i'm sure they understand that many fans love their older stuff, they're just not currently working on that exact style.

why do they deny their past? if you look on their myspace, theres this huge explanation of the band but nothing of their former visual kei days. WHY!!?! I JUST LOVE IT <3
