Hello
Every week the volenteers of the stationary engine department at amberley museum in sussex meet, we start and run most of the engines on site and part of this rota includes this grand old engine.
The engine was taken out of a sewerage works at Littlehamton where it powered an air compressor that fed a sewerage ejector that fed the waste out to sea, the engine has seen more than 50 years continuous service but has no major ware at all.
The engine is 28hp at 250 RPM however in this video it is running a steady 100 RPM, its age is unsure but it is from around the early 20's and is a direct injection 4 stroke naturally aspirated diesel engine, she runs about a gallon every 7 hours ticking over, it is started by air a 400 psi being fed into the piston then when up to speed the fuel is turned on and the engine takes off on its own
Very nice, just as I remember it!
