Ala Moana Mai Tai Bar on the 4th Floor. For other great date ideas and fun outings in and around the Honolulu area, ssee us at http://honolulucitydates.blogspot.com
For those of you looking to go to an open air bar with friendly staff this is not the place. Im sorry to say that the MAI Tai Bar is home to some of the most unprofessional workers and management i have ever encountered. A few friends and i came in for some drinks after a late lunch yesterday. We had problems finding seating but finally we
did. A waitress came to our area which wasn't cleaned of the previous person's food crumbs and drink spills. She asked us what we wanted to drink and told us that we had to show her our IDs, so we did. Mines passed inspection but she said that the two other IDs that belonged to my friends "looked fake". We waited about 10 minutes for her to come back and when she did arrive she had a little suprise for us. Her manager "Francine" who
told us "You're all going to have to come with us. These are fake i.d.s and the police are on their way." Everyone sitting around us just stared at us like we had done something horrible.
Still though we all figured okay, the identification cards are valid so we'll just wait for the police to arrive and then we'll get things straightened out. So we sit outside in the humidity, heat and vog that September 17th had prepared for us. An hour went by, no police. Then out of no
where "Maka" a 6 foot something 300plus pound doorman/security person came to us with my friend's ID cards. He said "I going give you the IDs but you gotta leave" these IDs are real but you guys gotta get out of here". I then asked him if i could talk to his boss "Francine" he went into the bar and then came back and told us "she dosen't want to talk to you guys" "you guys gotta leave now."I asked him why we had to leave and he
told me "we have the right to refuse service to anyone". So we took the ID cards and he escorted us all the way to the stair area. He then said that this "happens all the time" and he "knows its not right" but hes just "doing his job". I said
that i understood but really i didn't and still i dont. Why couldn't one of them just
offer us an apology? Makes me wonder hhhmmmmm... While walking down the stairs my friend discovered that in the process of checking his ID they cracked it down the middle. So no, i wouldn't recomend this place to anyone to go to. 6 thumbs down in our book.
