NWSA 2008-09 Boxball Tournament

Round 1 of the New World Boxball tournament.

The rules are simple, let the ball bounce ONLY once in your box and pass it to any of your other 3 opponents. If you hit the ball and it falls outside of the ring you are OUT and must return to the first box and the person(s) behind you advance. If you hit the ball and it lands on your box you are OUT. If the ball hits any part of your body besides your hands you are OUT. If you touch the ball more than one time you are OUT. If the ball bounces on your box and you fail to return it you are OUT. Once someone is out the game begins again with the person in King box serving to any of the 3 other players.This tournament does not allow 2-hand spinners, only one handed spinners are allowed (gripping the ball is illegal) and we do not play with rules such as "popcorn" etc. We stick to the raw game and rely on skill rather than tricks to win.

The tournament consists of 3 rounds; this is the first. Each round goes on for a TIMED 5 minutes, every time you get OUT you will receive a point and, as mentioned above, must return to the first box. If you're good enough to get to the 4th box (king box) you have to try and fight off the competition for as long as you can and avoid getting a point. The person with the least amount of points at the end of the 5 minutes wins the round. The points then roll over to the second round and a total is added up once the 3rd and final round is over. This competition is a group effort and only the 3 best players from each year are selected to participate: Senior (Red), Junior (Yellow), Sophomore (Black) and Freshman (White).
