The Japanese Tea Garden in San Antonio Texas reopened on Oct. 22, 2011. Built in 1919 in an abandoned quarry the gardens feature very large ponds stocked with incredible koi.
The descendants of the Jingu family, who had been lived and worked in the garden until World War Two, were there for the opening.
Interestingly, many of the plants are now Texas natives, rather than invasive species.
A project of the Parks Foundation and the City of San Antonio. Bravo!
