While Regina Jose Galindo is the most well known, she is part of a group of 30-something performing artists from Guatemala who have been producing some of the most talked about work in the world of performance art. In much of it, the artists use their bodies to look at history and contemporary events. They take the political and make it personal, metaphorical and poetic. In this performance Galindo paid a professional wrestler to get in the ring with her. ©1998-2006 Regina Jose Galindo.

nice to see something from Regina that not only sits perfectly within her own body of work but unusually for her has such an immediate connection to a famous art historical precedent - Arthur Cravan's boxing match - so this one is a perfect introduction to her for those who are new to her work.
