Video documentation of the first of a series of early explorations into concrete sounds, made during my residency at Sidcot School utilising the resonant space of a squash court. Using found objects, playing with their acoustic qualities, and recording in different locations has become a mode of working I greatly enjoy. Working exclusively with found objects enabled me to move back and forth from sculpture and the visual/conceptual to sound and the sonic/musical realm. It has also become a consistent provider of raw material, initially for the Cacophonography Experiments with Pedro Rocha & Mark Pearce, but then PML Beta/ChamberWorks, notably London Concrete and more recently my FREE raw material project The SARS Virus.
